Home Insurance Quote | Whether you reside in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay or anywhere in the Sunshine State, as Floridians, we are always mindful of the tropical activity in the waters surrounding our coasts. Hurricane season lasts from June 1 until November 30, and we at American Integrity Insurance want to make sure that you’re prepared. First, it’s important to be aware of what kind of insurance coverage you have, or don’t have. What many homeowners may not realize is that flood insurance is not included in standard Florida home insurance policies.
Flood Insurance
Flood insurance is a separate form of insurance that protects customers against covered physical losses by or from flood damage. Although the hurricane portion of homeowners insurance policies commonly cover wind damage, they do not in fact cover flood damage. For example, in the case of a hurricane, your hurricane deductible would cover the damages from the storm, with the exception of anything damaged by flooding: those damages would fall under a flood policy.
Knowing What Is (and Isn’t) Covered
After you’ve secured the appropriate home insurance coverage for your needs, make sure you’re prepared for the storm by educating yourself on what is covered with an additional flood insurance policy with American Integrity. We now have a flood endorsement that provides lower rates than the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policy, and there is no waiting period for our flood coverage to go into effect. Some other benefits of purchasing American Integrity’s flood endorsement rather than an NFIP policy are that the endorsement provides you with replacement cost coverage on the contents of your home, and greater limits of building and content coverage. Checking to see if you qualify for our private flood endorsement or an NFIP policy can be the first step in extending your home’s protection in the event of a flood or hurricane. Contact your American Integrity agent today to learn more about this important coverage.
