Q. Why has my premium gone up so much? I can't afford these premiums.
A. Premiums have risen for many reasons. The issue causing the greatest increase has been the cost of reinsurance. Reinsurance is insurance that insurance companies buy to make sure they have enough money to pay claims. When the 2004 and 2005 storms hit Florida, all the property insurance companies in Florida paid out a total of almost $40 billion dollars in claims. Much of that money came from reinsurance companies.
In the beginning of 2006, the reinsurance companies increased their costs to insurance companies in anticipation of the next few year’s hurricanes. Florida was lucky in 2006 because there were no storms, and we are hopeful that will be the case in 2007. However, you are probably aware; there was a tornado that went through central Florida on Friday, February 2, 2007. The recent legislation, which was signed by Governor Crist on January 25, 2007, changes Florida’s insurance laws in order to try and reduce insurance premiums.

Q. I saw in the news that some insurance companies are pulling out of and/or cancelling their Florida policies. What makes American Integrity want to do business in Florida? Why would I think that you will keep me as a policyholder?
A. Many insurance companies are looking at all the policies they have in order to decide how better to manage them. Because of that, many are making significant changes to their existing businesses. Because American Integrity is a new company, we are able to put processes in place that already contemplate some of the challenges in Florida. We are a solid company with a tremendous commitment to policyholders. American Integrity believes that Florida is a good place to grow an insurance company, and we have the right team in place to provide outstanding customer service our policyholders. We are here to stay.

Q. Does American Integrity offer a payment plan?
A. American Integrity will offer quarterly, semi-annual, and annual installment payment plans to assist you with budgeting your premiums.

Q. Does American Integrity write policies other than those taken out of Citizens Property Insurance Corporation?
A. Not at this time. However, American Integrity is planning to write other policies by the 1st quarter of 2008.

Q. Will American Integrity be taking over additional policies from Citizens in the future?
A. We may elect to pursue additional takeouts. The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation has approved American Integrity to remove policies from Citizens through June, 2008.
